Filix the Loop

A loop door knocker, named Filix, inspired by the curled fronds of a tree fern. To reinforce the connection to nature, this piece also features an intricate fern leaf pattern engraved around the centre. Handcrafted in brass, Filix feels both graceful and tactile, with a balanced weight that produces a deep, resonant knock. This sculptural loop door knocker combines organic detailing with everyday function.

Filix, our loop door knocker, takes its name from the botanical Latin for ferns. The design builds on the elegant, curved form of Vida, our classic Victorian door knocker, with the addition of a decorative central join that creates a continuous loop.

A joy to hold and use, Filix works particularly well on period properties, where the traditional form and natural detailing sit naturally together.

Fitting

Our loop door knocker, is a surface-mounted design, so there’s no need to drill through your door. It’s easy to install using a custom-designed bracket that keeps it securely in place. Suitable for both wooden and solid core composite doors, each piece comes with all necessary fixings and instructions. A fitting video is available here.

Our door knockers are available in a selection of finishes, making it easy to coordinate with your other door furniture and fittings.

Aged Brass – This finish is created through a natural, chemical-free patination process and finished with a clear wax. Over time, it will continue to develop a rich, warm tone. You can choose to let it age naturally or restore its original colour with a metal cleaner.

Polished Brass – A brighter, more reflective finish, hand-polished to achieve a soft shine. With time, it will naturally mellow and develop a patina if left unpolished.

Raven Black – A soft black finish with a subtle matt sheen. This finish requires very little maintenance and can be gently cleaned with a soft cloth.

Satin Silver – A cooler, lighter finish with a soft matt appearance, designed to complement pewter or satin nickel door furniture. Minimal maintenance is required.

Please note: Brass is a living material and will naturally change over time. Variations in tone and patina are part of its character and are not considered faults.
